Pammie Campbell was born in Louisville, Kentucky and spent her early childhood on a farm in Vermont. Later, she moved with her mother to Europe and went to local schools in Rome and Paris. In her teen years, she attended a school in New York City and then a finishing school in Switzerland before studying to be a concert pianist, first in New York and then in London. Her musical studies were interrupted when she married her first husband and settled in London, where she raised three daughters. She married her second husband, Alastair Campbell, and moved the family to New York where he was then working. With time on her hands after the children left home, Pammie resumed her musical studies by learning to play the clarinet.

Several years later, while living in Houston, Texas, a friend persuaded her to join an oil painting class and she discovered a new artistic talent. Pammie has been painting regularly since and has studied with a number of teachers. Her subjects have included still life, landscapes and some portraits. She started painting portraits of friends' dogs as Christmas presents. Knowledge of her work spread by word of mouth. One day, a friend suggested that her talent for painting dogs could be put to work for charitable causes and she adopted this idea. Pammie has painted many dog portraits which now grace homes throughout the USA. Samples of many are shown on this website.
